The second-hand marketplace Users Share Anger Regarding Sizing Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's garments failing to inform all users about the change.
Social Media Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted because of the remapping.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
It has advised users to examine their items and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Earlier, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
