Iranian Forces State Assault on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations across the region in response for a significant and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any damage is unclear and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - stated they have intercepted missiles in their air space.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the government.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and shot down a number of missiles," it added.
It said missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
