Disaster Strikes as Inadvertent Explosion at Law Enforcement Facility in Kashmir Region Under Indian Control Claims Nine Deaths
A tragic explosion at a security post in the Indian-controlled part of Kashmir has resulted in the fatalities of nine people and harm to thirty-two others, according to authority reports.
The incident occurred when a collection of confiscated explosives unintentionally detonated during processing activities.

The explosion happened on the evening of Friday at the Nowgam police station, where detonation agents taken from Faridabad in the northern state of Haryana state were being stored temporarily.
Regional law enforcement head announced that the blast materials were awaiting scientific analysis when a "extremely tragic" accident during handling led to their detonation at approximately 23:20 in the evening.
Authority Statements
Security forces confirmed that this was an "inadvertent blast" and as opposed to a terror incident. "Any other speculation regarding the origin of this event is unnecessary," stressed the law enforcement head during a media conference.
The security post suffered extensive destruction from the blast, with nearby constructions also being impacted by the intense detonation.
Impact and Casualties
Multiple vehicles were "covered in blaze and reduced to charred husks, with wreckage spread across the area," according to authority statements.
"The intensity of the blast was such that some physical fragments were recovered from adjacent homes, approximately 100-200 metres away the security post," mentioned an police contact.
The majority of the victims were security officials, along with scientific examination staff, two crime scene photographers, and a clothing professional who was present with the personnel.
Government Response
The area's Regional Leader conveyed sympathies and announced that an investigation had been ordered into the devastating event.
"I have commissioned a investigation to establish the reason of the accidental explosion. Profoundly distressed by the fatalities of important persons due to extremely tragic unintentional explosion at Nowgam security post in the Srinagar area. My sympathies to the bereaved families. I hope for quick healing of the harmed," stated the leader on digital platforms.
