Arne Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was understandable for doubts to be raised about his position following a further convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in 12 games, representing the club's poorest streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got plenty of support from the top,” the coach commented.

“It's important to reverse this trend and get a victory obviously but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it's typical that people question you.”

He added, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and for me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “Through standard discussions I sense the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Issues and Player Reaction

Slot highlighted known shortcomings from his squad in their European defeat, specifically poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a period such as this with performances like these.”

Jones stated, “However we still have the emblem on our chest. And until it is gone, we'll continue to compete.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to the top, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
